Village In A Spin

By February 27, 2017No Comments

Spinning ClassesThe Stanhill Village Heritage Project is presently running traditional spinning workshops. We have hired a professional instructor, Cathy Wright, who shows local residents how to spin on traditional spinning wheels called ‘Lazycates’. The first workshop was run in January and the next will take place on 17 March at the Stanhill Village Methodist Chapel. The workshop numbers are limited to five at a time and we have been oversubscribed. At the end of the six hour session you will have learned to spin and produced some wool product as well. the spinning wheels are provided and you only have to bring yourself and a packed lunch!

This is a great way to reconnect with the past in the village which has such an important link with spinning and its technology. The workshop takes place in the same room which houses the Spinning Jenny rebuilt by our project to celebrate James Hargreaves.

Future courses will cost £65 per head and if you are interested please contact Richard Hooper on 07933773845.
